MEMORY FOR SERVER
Server RAM Memory – HPE, Dell, Fujitsu, Lenovo, Supermicro
RAM is the heart of every data center. It is the component most frequently upgraded, as expanding memory is the easiest way to increase the performance of virtualization, databases, and business applications. At ESUS IT, we specialize in providing reliable server memory that meets strict OEM manufacturer standards.
How to choose the right RAM for a server?
Selecting server memory requires precision. To avoid mistakes when purchasing, you should verify the number of available slots, the maximum capacity supported by the processor, and the current configuration.
Professional selection: Check it yourself or trust the experts
If you are not sure which modules will be compatible with your machine, you have two options:
- Self-verification: Check the type of currently installed memory and the server’s technical documentation.
- Free support from ESUS IT specialists: Provide us with your device model or Service Tag (for Dell/HPE servers). Our specialists will select the correct and proven solution, taking full responsibility for compatibility.
Frequency vs Dual Channel mode
Can you use memory with a higher frequency? Yes, as long as the other parameters are compatible. However, remember that to achieve maximum performance (e.g. Dual or Quad Channel mode), we recommend using identical pairs of modules.
Key parameters of server and workstation memory
When choosing RAM for a server, you must look beyond just capacity and frequency. The following features determine whether the server will even boot:
- Memory type (UDIMM ECC, RDIMM, LRDIMM): The most important rule – never mix different types of memory. The server requires a uniform module architecture.
- Number of RANKs (Single, Dual, Quad, Octo Rank): This parameter defines how the processor communicates with memory. In older systems, the number of ranks was limited by the processor; in newer ones, it affects maximum memory population and stability.
Why choose dedicated replacements at ESUS IT?
Most global leaders, such as HPE, Dell, Fujitsu or Lenovo, do not manufacture their own RAM chips. They purchase modules from the four largest manufacturers in the world: Samsung, Hynix, Micron, and Nanya, and then label them with their own branding.
Quality and compatibility guarantee
Our offer is based on delivering memory with parameters identical to the originals. Thanks to many years of experience, we provide components that are tested for stability in specific server models. You receive OEM-quality products at a much more attractive price.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is dedicated server memory?
Dedicated memory is a module selected specifically for a given model (e.g. Dell PowerEdge or HPE ProLiant). These modules are pre-tested for compatibility with specific memory controllers, eliminating the risk of transmission errors.
2. Can I mix RDIMM and LRDIMM memory?
No. Mixing modules with different buffering architectures (Registered and Load-Reduced) is not allowed and will cause server initialization errors. Always use one type of memory within a single system.
3. How does the Service Tag help in selecting RAM?
The Service Tag (or serial number) allows us to check the factory configuration of your server. This way, we know exactly what processor and motherboard are inside, enabling precise memory selection.
4. Does using replacement RAM void the server warranty?
In most cases, adding certified RAM that complies with the manufacturer’s specifications does not void the server warranty. It is a standard hardware upgrade procedure.
